Charter skippers
Your crew asks why the jib is aback or what “apparent wind” actually means? Instead of waving your hands, show them on your iPhone or iPad – on the pontoon, in the cockpit, over a sundowner.
Sailforce explains course, sheets and the forces on the sail – interactive and clear enough for the whole crew to follow. On the pontoon or mid-passage, even with no signal.

Who it’s for
Your crew asks why the jib is aback or what “apparent wind” actually means? Instead of waving your hands, show them on your iPhone or iPad – on the pontoon, in the cockpit, over a sundowner.
Before or after your sailing licence: turn the course, pull the sheets and instantly see what changes. That’s how theory sticks – and suddenly makes sense on board.
What it looks like

A course ring for steering, the wind always from the top, jib and main sheets to pull. The wind triangle of true wind, boat-speed wind and apparent wind shows where the wind on board really comes from – plus arrows for drive and side force.

A realistic 38–40 ft charter yacht to rotate and zoom. The physics follow real yacht polars: heel costs speed, and the boat accelerates and slows down with inertia.

Just like the textbook, only alive: streamlines and pressure distribution in suction and pressure colours. You can move the height of the cut up and down the mast.

Manoeuvres in real time, including the loss of speed. In a gybe the boom swings across – and the speed only builds up again gradually.

Jib to windward, main to leeward: Sailforce shows how wing on wing works downwind and why it gives you more speed.

Hints like “Jib luffing · haul the sheet” tell you what to do – for jib and mainsail, including a warning when an unintended gybe is looming downwind.

On iPad too
On iPad, Sailforce becomes a whiteboard for the cockpit: everyone sees the same thing while you explain – and nobody has to imagine a chalk sketch.

Sailforce automatically follows the language of your iPhone or iPad – in twelve languages.
No account, no analytics, no ads. Sailforce keeps your settings on your device only, and the simulation runs completely offline. Apple handles purchases; the app fetches current prices and your purchase status at every launch via the RevenueCat service, using a random identifier without name or email address – I never see your name or payment details.
All the details: privacy policy.
A learning model, not a navigation device. Sailforce shows sailing physics in simplified form, tuned to a typical 38–40 ft charter yacht. It does not replace training, seamanship or navigation – responsibility on board always stays with the skipper.
Questions
Sailforce is currently being prepared for the App Store. As soon as it’s available, you’ll find the link right here.
No. The 2D top view is free and shows how Sailforce works, and you can take a look at the 3D view. If you only need Pro for one trip, the trip pass is the cheapest option: one week, €3.99, no subscription.
Sailforce is a learning model tuned to a typical 38–40 ft charter yacht. The speeds are guide values and don’t transfer 1:1 to your boat. Factors include boat type and hull shape, load, sails and their condition (furling main, reefs), sea state, current, fouling on the hull, gusts and wind shifts, and how well the crew trims and steers.
Yes. The simulation runs entirely on your device and works without an internet connection – handy on board, where there often is no signal. When a connection is available, the app briefly fetches current prices and your purchase status at launch; purchases and restoring purchases need an internet connection.
Almost none. There is no account, no tracking and no analytics services. Settings stay on your device only. At every launch, the app sends a random identifier (without name or email address) and technical details (such as app version and device type) to the RevenueCat service to fetch current prices and your purchase status; purchases add Apple’s purchase receipts. The free 2D view also works entirely without internet. Details are in the privacy policy for Sailforce.
iPhone and iPad. A purchase applies to all devices using the same Apple ID – via “Restore purchases” in the app’s settings.
You keep the free 2D top view. Cancelling, restoring, refunds: everything important is in Support.
Sailforce is coming soon to the App Store – for iPhone and iPad.
